Nana Aba Anamoah Rejects Claims GHOne Journalist Was Forced To Apologise

Ghanaian media personality Nana Aba Anamoah has dismissed allegations that a GHOne TV journalist was coerced into offering a public apology to Foreign Affairs Minister Okudzeto Ablakwa following comments she made on a passport controversy.

The issue began after GHOne TV presenter Lily Mohammed publicly criticised Minister Ablakwa’s decision to grant a Ghanaian passport to visiting internet personality IShowSpeed, drawing strong reactions on social media. Within hours, Lily Mohammed issued an apology, saying she regretted her comments and any offence they caused.

Some critics began claiming that the journalist had been pressured or coerced into retracting her statement and apologising, but Nana Aba Anamoah has publicly rejected those claims. She stressed that there was no outside influence forcing the apology, and said the correction was voluntary.

Anamoah also called out commentators accusing the presenter of being manipulated, saying such claims were unfair and lacked evidence. Her intervention has added another dimension to the conversation around media freedom and accountability in Ghana’s public discourse.

The incident has sparked debate on social media and in newsrooms over the balance between journalistic expression and the reactions that follow when public figures are criticised.
