Britney Spears Sells Rights To Her Entire Music Catalog To Primary Wave
Pop music icon Britney Spears has sold the rights to her entire music catalogue in a major deal with the independent music publisher Primary Wave. The agreement was finalised at the end of December 2025 and covers ownership of her extensive back catalogue of hit songs dating back to the start of her career.
The catalogue includes many of her most recognised tracks such as “…Baby One More Time,” “Toxic,” “Oops … I Did It Again,” “Gimme More” and other defining pop anthems that helped shape her career over nearly three decades. Although the exact financial figure was not officially disclosed, reports suggest the deal is worth around $200 million.
Primary Wave is known for acquiring music rights from legendary artists and managing iconic catalogues, and the acquisition adds Spears’ body of work to its growing roster. Industry observers say catalog rights have become increasingly valuable in the streaming era because they provide steady revenue through streaming, licensing and other uses.
This move makes Spears one of many top artists who have monetised their catalogue in recent years, joining the ranks of musicians such as Justin Bieber, Bob Dylan and Shakira who have sold rights to their music. The deal reflects a trend in the industry in which artists choose to cash in on the long-term value of their creative works.
Despite no immediate plans to return to performing in the United States, Spears remains a cultural icon whose music continues to resonate with fans around the world. The sale of her catalogue secures the legacy of her early work while marking a new chapter in how her music will be managed and promoted in years to come
