UCC Students Urged To Apply Classroom Knowledge To Real Governance
Students at the University of Cape Coast have been encouraged to go beyond academic learning and connect what they study in class with practical issues in leadership and governance. Speakers at a forum organised by the Young Commons Forum UCC Chapter highlighted the importance of applying theoretical knowledge to real-world governance challenges.
At the event, the President of the Young Commons Forum emphasised that students should not limit themselves to textbooks but should actively engage in civic activities, policy discussions, and community projects that sharpen their leadership skills. He said participating in meaningful public service helps bridge the gap between theory and practice, preparing students to contribute effectively to national development.
The forum also served as a platform to launch the UCC chapter of the Young Commons Forum, with organisers calling on student leaders from various groups to take responsibility for promoting ethical and informed leadership in society. Participants were urged to use their academic training to solve societal problems, engage in constructive dialogue, and support accountable governance structures in Ghana.
Speakers at the event noted that linking classroom lessons with hands-on governance engagement helps students become more informed citizens and strengthens democratic institutions by preparing young people to take on leadership roles with integrity and insight.
