Edem Considers Bringing Back Ayigbe Edem Name On Social Media
Ghanaian rapper Edem has sparked fresh discussion online after suggesting he may revert to his former stage name, Ayigbe Edem, on social media. The idea was shared by the award-winning musician as a solution to confusion caused by the number of accounts using the name “Edem” across different platforms.
In a post on his official social media pages, Edem explained that he and his team have been talking about the challenges fans face finding his verified account. Even though his current profile is officially verified, the similarity in names with other popular accounts makes it harder for followers to identify his real presence online. To address this, he proposed bringing back “Ayigbe Edem” as a clearer identifier.
The rapper wrote that there are “too many ‘Edem’s on social,” and that returning to the name that many fans originally knew him by might help make his official pages easier to find.
The suggestion quickly drew mixed reactions. Some fans feel his established name “Edem” already has strong brand value and should be kept, arguing that changing it could weaken his recognition built over many years in the music industry. Others encouraged him to keep his current name and focus on promoting it more consistently rather than reintroducing Ayigbe Edem.
Edem first rose to fame under the name Ayigbe Edem earlier in his career before shortening it. His music blends hip hop, rap and other genres and he is recognised as one of Ghana’s leading performers, with a career dating back more than a decade.
