Barker-Vormawor Releases Alleged Audio Of Attempted Bribe By Kan-Dapaah
Renowned lawyer and activist Oliver Barker-Vormawor has made public what he says is a transcript of a recorded conversation that allegedly shows an attempt to bribe him by former National Security Minister Albert Kan-Dapaah, involving a reference to then Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta. The material was shared as part of Barker-Vormawor’s ongoing claims about efforts to influence his activism.
In his post, Barker-Vormawor said the recording captures a conversation in which Kan-Dapaah is purported to have offered inducements to get him to stop his public pressure campaigns. He cited financial incentives and other promises, claiming the exchange was documented on audio and that he was releasing a written transcription in the public interest.
These allegations are linked to long-standing claims Barker-Vormawor has made about a secret meeting where a bribe was offered to halt his activism and pressure group activities. In previous public statements, he said he had evidence to support his claims and intended to release it to the public.
The Ministry of National Security has consistently denied any offer of money or inducement was made to Barker-Vormawor or other activists, saying earlier meetings with them were simply to hear out their concerns. The ministry challenged him to produce evidence of the alleged inducement.
This development comes against the backdrop of a defamation suit brought by Kan-Dapaah against Barker-Vormawor over related comments, where the court recently ordered significant damages to be paid for defamatory statements.
