Broda Sammy Confirms End Of His Marriage

Ghanaian gospel musician Broda Sammy has revealed that his marriage has officially come to an end after several years with his wife, Obaa Yaa, who lives abroad.

Speaking during a television appearance, the controversial gospel singer explained that the divorce was initiated by his wife and not by him. According to him, he was performing at a show in Manso during the Christmas season when his family head called to inform him that his wife’s family had returned the customary drinks used during their traditional marriage.

In Ghanaian tradition, returning the drinks symbolizes a request to dissolve a marriage. Broda Sammy said his family initially refused to accept the items until he returned home to discuss the issue. When he arrived, both families arranged a meeting to address the situation.

However, his wife did not attend the meeting in person. Instead, she confirmed through a phone call that she had instructed her family to return the drinks, effectively ending the marriage. According to Broda Sammy, she did not accuse him of wrongdoing during the conversation.

The gospel musician said he eventually accepted the divorce after realizing that he and his wife had not been living together for several years. The physical distance between them, he explained, had created challenges in their relationship.

Broda Sammy also suggested that certain individuals had allegedly spread false stories about him to his wife in the past. He claimed that some accusations, including claims linking him to occult activities, may have influenced her decision to end the marriage.

The singer further recalled that he began to suspect that his marriage was in serious trouble when his wife and her relatives failed to attend his mother’s funeral. That moment, he said, made him realize that their relationship might not recover.

Despite the painful breakup, Broda Sammy indicated that he is open to moving forward with his life. He even hinted that he may consider remarriage in the future.

Broda Sammy and his ex-wife had been married for many years and share children who live abroad with their mother. Over the years, the gospel musician often spoke positively about his wife during interviews and public appearances.
