Kwaw Kese Mocks Ghana Music Awards Nomination Process
Kwaw Kese has stirred conversation online after criticizing the nomination process of the Telecel Ghana Music Awards, suggesting the system has become confusing and unpredictable.
The outspoken musician shared his thoughts in a post on social media, where he humorously mocked the way nominees are announced for the awards scheme. According to him, the process appears unclear to many people, including industry players and fans.
In his post, Kwaw Kese joked that the awards have become so unpredictable that people suddenly wake up to hear that a nominees party has already been held. He questioned how nominees are selected and when the process actually takes place.
The rapper wrote that the awards now feel like something that happens without the public noticing when nominations start. He said people often only realise what is happening when the nominees list has already been released.
Kwaw Kese sarcastically described the situation by saying the Ghana Music Awards have “turned gob3,” a popular Ghanaian expression used to describe something that has become confusing or messy. He further mocked the scheme by suggesting that it should be renamed the “Beans Music Awards.”
His comment quickly attracted attention online, sparking debate among music fans and industry observers about transparency in the nomination process of major music awards in Ghana.
The Telecel Ghana Music Awards remains one of the biggest music award schemes in the country, recognising outstanding achievements by Ghanaian artists each year. However, the awards have occasionally faced criticism from musicians and fans who question how nominations and winners are determined.
Kwaw Kese has previously expressed strong opinions about award schemes in Ghana, especially when it comes to issues such as fairness and credibility in voting and nomination processes. His latest remarks add to the ongoing conversations about how award systems in the Ghanaian music industry operate.
