President Mahama Meets Organised Labour On March 17
President John Dramani Mahama engaged leaders of Organised Labour in Ghana on Tuesday, March 17, 2026, in discussions focused on the nation’s economic and social issues. The meeting, held at Jubilee House in Accra, brought together representatives of key worker unions to talk through shared concerns and the way forward for the economy.
During the dialogue, President Mahama reiterated the government’s commitment to improving conditions for workers and strengthening social dialogue as part of efforts to promote industrial peace and national development. He noted that collaboration between the state and labour groups is essential for addressing challenges such as inflation, wage concerns and employment opportunities.
Organised Labour leaders used the forum to raise several key issues affecting workers across various sectors. These included concerns about rising living costs, salary adjustments, working conditions and the need for support for vulnerable workers. They emphasised that effective consultation between government and labour organisations is crucial for finding lasting solutions that protect workers’ interests.
President Mahama assured participants that the government recognises the importance of labour’s role in national progress. He encouraged continuous engagement to strengthen partnerships and navigate economic pressures in ways that benefit both workers and employers.
The meeting also reaffirmed the need to maintain open lines of communication, strengthen trust between stakeholders and work collaboratively toward shared national goals, particularly as Ghana seeks to sustain growth and stability in a challenging global economic environment.
