Puma Unveils Bold Ghana 2026 World Cup Kits Inspired by Ananse and Makola

Sportswear brand Puma has officially revealed the new Ghana national football team kits ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, showcasing designs that highlight Ghana’s rich cultural heritage and visual identity on the global stage. The launch took place at an eye‑catching event in New York City as part of Puma’s “Rolling Nations” street activation, focusing on blending traditional Ghanaian influences with modern athletic performance.

The home kit retains the Black Stars’ classic white base but introduces a striking artistic concept inspired by Kwaku Ananse, the legendary spider figure deeply rooted in West African folklore. The shirt features a bold cobweb‑like pattern formed by interwoven lines in red, yellow, green and blue representing the national flag’s colours. These elements come together to create a vibrant visual identity that symbolises wisdom, creativity and resilience—qualities often associated with the Ananse tales. The iconic Black Star sits prominently at the centre of the chest, flanked by the Puma logo and the Ghana Football Association crest, with a contrasting black collar completing the look.

Meanwhile, the away kit stands out with a Sunny Yellow base, drawing inspiration from Accra’s Makola Market, one of Ghana’s most dynamic and bustling cultural hubs. The design incorporates detailed tonal patterns that blend traditional Adinkra symbols and geometric influences reminiscent of Kente cloth, reinforcing Ghana’s heritage and cultural narrative. Dark green side panels and sleeves balance the bold yellow, while a red collar ties in the national colours, ensuring the home and away kits share a consistent identity.

Both kits are expected to be worn by the Black Stars during their 2026 World Cup campaign across the United States, Canada and Mexico, where Ghana will compete with hopes of making a significant impact on football’s biggest stage.

The new jersey designs reflect Puma’s ongoing commitment to celebrating national identity through football uniforms, combining storytelling, symbolism and style to create a look that resonates with supporters at home and abroad.
