RCee’s Team Questions TGMA Criteria After ‘Agenda’ Snub
Management of Ghanaian artiste RCee has raised concerns over the nomination process for the 2026 Telecel Ghana Music Awards (TGMA), following the exclusion of his song Agenda from the nominations list.
In a formal reaction, the team described the omission as surprising, arguing that Agenda performed strongly during the eligibility period and deserved recognition in key categories. They questioned the criteria used by the awards board, suggesting that the decision does not reflect the song’s impact and popularity.
According to the management, Agenda gained significant traction among fans and within the music industry, making its absence from the nominations difficult to understand. They emphasised that award schemes should maintain transparency and consistency to ensure fairness for all artistes.
The team is now seeking clarification from the TGMA Board on how selections were made, particularly regarding how songs are evaluated for categories tied to performance, influence, and reach. They believe a clearer explanation would help maintain confidence in the awards system and avoid similar concerns in the future.
This development adds to a growing list of grievances from artistes and industry stakeholders following the release of the 2026 nominations. Several musicians have publicly expressed dissatisfaction, raising broader questions about the transparency and credibility of the awards scheme.
Despite the controversy, the Telecel Ghana Music Awards remain one of the most prestigious platforms in Ghana’s music industry, celebrating excellence and achievements across various genres. However, recurring concerns over nomination processes continue to spark debate about how best to ensure fairness and inclusivity.
RCee’s management insists that their petition is not just about one song but about promoting accountability and improving the overall integrity of the awards system.
