Afoko Urges NPP Members To Stay United After Bawumia Becomes Flagbearer
Former National Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Paul Afoko, has appealed to members of the party to remain united and focused following the election of Dr Mahamudu Bawumia as the party’s flagbearer for the 2028 general elections. Afoko said it was important for all party supporters, leaders and delegates to close ranks, set aside any disagreements and work together to strengthen the party’s prospects ahead of the next national polls.
Afoko described unity and discipline as key elements that will help the NPP maintain stability and advance its vision for the country. He reminded party members that collective effort and cooperation would contribute to better performance in the 2028 elections.
The call for unity comes in the wake of Dr Bawumia’s victory over several other aspirants in the party’s presidential primary contest. His election as flagbearer followed a competitive internal process where delegates from across the country voted to choose their preferred candidate to lead the party into the 2028 general election.
Party supporters and stakeholders have also reacted to Dr Bawumia’s win with many urging calm and cooperation within the NPP, stressing that a united front will be more effective ahead of the national polls. Several voices within the party see the outcome as an opportunity for renewal and collective engagement toward shared goals.
Afoko’s comments reflect a broader call from political actors in the NPP for unity, collective work and mutual respect as the party prepares for the work ahead
