All Children in Basic Schools to Receive Their Ghana Cards Starting from June 17, 2024.

In a visit to the Oti Region of Ghana on the 2nd day of June, the Vice President and Flag bearer of the New Patriotic Party, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia declared at a Dambai that all children in schools will receive their Ghana Card identity numbers starting from June 17.

He stated that the government will ally with the Ghana Health Service, the Births and Deaths Registry (BDR), the Ghana Statistical Service and the National Identification Authority (NIA) to integrate  these systems for easy implementation.

This integration will ensure that all children from 0-13 years will be provided with an identity number which will be  linked with that of their parents. This integration will be done with immediate effect to secure them in the National Identity System.

Dr Bawumia said the Ghana Card “is not just an ID, but also a promise to our children of a future, where their identity and rights are recognized from their very first birth.”

“It is a testament to our commitment to building an effective, efficient responsive and accountable public sector that meet the needs of the Ghanaian citizenry,” The Vice President added.

From there, he moved on to the Dambai Saturday Market where the traders as well as residents received him gladly as they made efforts to see him when he made stops to greet them and have quick talks with the people.

Dr. Bawumia and his entourage made it to the Presbyterian Church an hour later to have a scheduled meeting with “Youth Connect” members there.

Overall, Bawumia and his campaign team left marks of assurances with the people they met on the tour as the people of the Oti region expressed their confidence and support in the NPP through their hospitable gestures they showered in the campaign team.
