Bawumia Says Patience and Trust in God Helped Him Handle Personal Attacks

Former Vice President and Mahamudu Bawumia, who is also the newly elected Flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has revealed how strong faith and spiritual resilience helped him deal with negative comments and personal attacks during his political journey.

In a recent message shared with party members and supporters, Dr. Bawumia said that instead of reacting in anger or frustration when he was criticised, he chose to respond with patience, good character, and confidence in God’s plan for his life. He noted that trusting in a higher power gave him peace and composure whenever he faced opposition or discouragement.

Bawumia recounted that in public life, especially in politics, detractors often launch harsh statements meant to weaken a person’s resolve. But he said he refused to be shaken or drawn into unnecessary disputes because he believed that rampant criticism often comes with leadership positions. He encouraged others to view such moments not as setbacks but as opportunities to deepen their faith and strengthen their character.

The NPP flagbearer also urged his supporters and young Ghanaians to be steadfast, reminding them that challenges should not deter them from pursuing their goals. He stressed that a calm and consistent response to criticism reflects maturity, confidence, and leadership readiness — qualities he said are vital for national development.

His remarks come amid growing national political activity, with supporters of different parties becoming more vocal as the 2026 elections approach. Bawumia’s focus on faith and patience reflects a broader message of unity, resilience, and moral strength that he has shared at various public forums in recent months.

The reactions to Bawumia’s comments have been mixed on social media. Some Ghanaians have applauded his calm approach and religious grounding, saying it sets a positive example for political engagement. Others have urged political figures to also address policy issues directly, in addition to personal reflections.

Overall, Bawumia’s message highlighted that personal criticism need not derail a person’s purpose if met with patience, trust in God, and a focus on long-term goals.
