Bishop J.Y. Adu Reveals New Details About Yaw Sarpong’s Final Days

Bishop John Yaw Adu has shared new details about the final days of veteran gospel musician Yaw Sarpong. He said Sarpong’s sister had built a house for him to move into after he fully recovered from his illness. The plan was for him to leave medical care and live there once his condition improved.

According to Bishop Adu, Yaw Sarpong was staying at the New Jerusalem Chapel in Kumasi while he received treatment. The church monitored his condition and ensured he took his medication as prescribed. He said a specialist was also involved in managing his health at the time.

Bishop Adu explained that disagreements later arose over Sarpong’s care. He said the family decided to take him away from the church despite medical advice to keep him under close supervision. He added that Sarpong’s condition required constant medical attention.

He also noted that after Sarpong was taken from the church’s care, his health declined further and he needed oxygen and other medical support. Bishop Adu said the situation was difficult and unfortunate given how fragile his condition had become.

He expressed sadness over Yaw Sarpong’s death and offered his condolences to the family.
