Black Queens Rise to 62nd in Latest FIFA Women’s Rankings After Strong Performances
Ghana’s national women’s football team, the Black Queens, have risen five positions in the latest FIFA Women’s World Rankings, reflecting a notable improvement in form and consistency. The team now occupies 62nd place internationally, up from 67th in the previous ranking update.
On the African continent, the Black Queens have secured third place, placing them among the top women’s teams behind Nigeria and South Africa. Their ascent in the rankings follows a period of impressive results, including a dominant qualifying performance for the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations.
Ghana sealed qualification for the upcoming WAFCON with a 7‑0 aggregate victory over Egypt in the final qualifying round. Their only recent setback was a friendly defeat to England in early December, a result that did little to diminish their overall positive trajectory.
The Black Queens will now focus on preparations for the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations, scheduled to take place in Morocco from March 17 to April 3. The improved ranking provides a boost to team morale and recognition as they prepare to compete among the continent’s elite.
