Sports led the waves today, as Chelsea just part ways with their Argentinian coach, Mauricio Pochettino. The news didn’t come surprising, looking at the seasons performance by the club under the manager but the shock is how spontaneous it came. No one heard a gist of it so we speculated a long term plan between the club and the coach not knowing hot discussions were hitting Chelsea’s control room all this while.
According to the report, the decision is based on mutual understanding between the club and the coach which signifies total respect between the two parties, hence a possible reunion in future.
Pochettino took over as Chelsea’s manager at the end of last season after a devastating season led by 3 different coaches. Chelsea patriots didn’t really believe in his appointment because he is not a proven winner to contain the hopes of the club.
His most incredible time in the premier league was with Tottenham, which he managed to make them a top force in the league. His most remarkable moment was when he eliminated Pep’s Manchester City to play Liverpool in the champions league final and lost by a lone goal. He did quite well per the standards of Tottenham but still failed to produce even a single trophy for the club.
Coming to Chelsea with relatively better budget, it looked like a step up for the Argentinian to rewrite his premier league story but ended very contrasting. Though he managed to qualify the team to play Europa league next season but with the financial muscle given to him as a coach, it’s obvious the board demanded something better.
Who is next to control the dressing room of the blue side of London? People are speculating Thomas Tuchel, who was sacked by the club in the early stages of 2022/2023 season when the club was taken over by the new board to step in the seat once again. Interestingly Tuchel is leaving Bayern Munich so the remarriage won’t be complicated if only the two parties are ready to continue the story they started.
