Charlene Ruto, Daughter of Kenya’s President, Urges Unity Amidst Ongoing Protests – Streetz Gist

Amidst this week’s protests in Kenya, Charlene Ruto took to Twitter on June 25th, 2024, to share her unique perspective on the situation. Straddling the delicate line between her role as the president’s daughter and her position as a youth advocate, Charlene expressed her unwavering confidence in her father’s commitment to the nation, a conviction shaped by three decades of observing his political career.

But more deeply, Charlene’s message also speaks to the youths. She appreciates what bothers them and lauds their vibrancy in being part of the active citizenship in the nation.

She takes it to be a generational revolution where she encourages the Kenyan youth to hold onto their ground and arguments with attention, right, dignity, and nobility. That is the only promised way for them to speak and are listened to.

“I stand at a very unique position regarding the issues facing my country Kenya as we speak.

As a president’s daughter, I have no doubt in my mind, watching my father rise in politics for over 30 years, seeing his work and passion behind the scenes, that he truthfully holds the best interests of Kenyans at heart.

As a youth champion, I hear the cry of this generation and give my kudos that we not only care about current affairs, but have a stand and are willing to raise our concerns. This is a gamechanger. Let’s do it consistently, in an informed manner, with respect and honour. That is how we will be heard.

May we dwell in unity, peace and liberty.

A way will be made.”

Of course, that which Charlene has expressed is an inspirational call for unity. She sees a nation in which unity, peace, and liberty prevail—even in turbulence, so are her words. Her hopefulness really suggests that a way forward can be found if indeed people put in that effort and respect each other mutually.
