Accra High Court Grants GH₵50 Million Bail to Former GRA Boss and Four Others in SML Case
The Accra High Court has granted bail amounting to GH₵50 million to former Ghana Revenue Authority Commissioner General Rev. Dr. Ammishaddai Owusu Amoah and four other accused persons in the ongoing case involving Strategic Mobilisation Ghana Limited. The court directed that each accused must provide two sureties who can justify the bail.
The individuals granted bail include Emmanuel Kofi Nti, Isaac Crentsil, Evans Adusei and Strategic Mobilisation Ghana Limited. They are facing various charges, including influencing procurement processes for undue advantage, causing financial loss to the state and using public office for personal gain.
As part of the bail conditions, the accused must surrender their passports and any travel documents to the court registry. They are also required to report to the Office of the Special Prosecutor once every week.
Due to the late conclusion of the court session, the new bail terms will take effect on Monday, December 15, 2025, when the accused return to complete all formalities. Until then, they will remain under the initial bail terms set earlier by the Office of the Special Prosecutor.
The court also asked the accused persons to report to the Office of the Special Prosecutor on Friday, December 12, to start the process of meeting the bail requirements.
Prosecutors allege that the accused were involved in actions that improperly secured significant procurement contracts for Strategic Mobilisation Ghana Limited, leading to a financial loss of more than GH₵1.4 billion to the state.
The case has been adjourned to December 17, 2025, to allow Member of Parliament for Jaman South, Kwadwo Damoah, to appear and enter his plea. The court declined a request for a bench warrant, noting that he was covered by parliamentary privilege at the time the summons was issued.
