My Late Mother Would Not Approve – Stonebwoy Speaks On Rift With Shatta Wale
Ghanaian dancehall star Stonebwoy has opened up about why reconciling publicly with longtime rival Shatta Wale remains difficult for him.
Speaking in a recent interview, Stonebwoy revealed that certain past comments made by Shatta Wale crossed a deeply personal line, particularly those involving his late mother. According to him, such statements have made it almost impossible for him to act friendly or share a moment of public unity with his rival.
He stressed that while rivalry is common in the music industry, there are boundaries that should never be crossed, especially when it comes to family. Stonebwoy explained that the pain from those remarks still lingers, making any form of public reconciliation feel insincere.
In a striking remark, the artiste said even the thought of smiling with Shatta Wale after those incidents feels wrong, adding that his late mother would not approve of such a gesture.
He further noted that although competition can sometimes be used as a marketing tool in the entertainment space, it should not come at the expense of respect and dignity. According to him, some forms of publicity cross the line and become offensive rather than promotional.
Stonebwoy emphasized that Ghanaian musicians have a responsibility to represent the country positively on the global stage, urging industry players to maintain professionalism despite rivalries.
The tension between the two artistes has been ongoing for years, fueled by exchanges and controversies that have often dominated headlines in Ghana’s music scene. However, Stonebwoy’s latest comments suggest that while the rivalry may continue professionally, personal wounds remain unresolved.
