Fifi Kwetey Calls For Resignation Of Jean Mensa And EC Deputies Over Loss Of Public Trust
Fifi Fiavi Kwetey, General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has called for the resignation of Electoral Commission Chair Jean Mensa and her deputies, citing a loss of public confidence in their leadership. His statement comes amid petitions questioning the credibility and conduct of the EC.
Speaking on Joy News’ PM Express, Kwetey stressed that while due process should be followed regarding the petitions, the issues raised go beyond politics and touch on Ghana’s democratic principles. He argued that breaches in fairness and accountability leave the EC leadership without a legitimate reason to continue in office.
Kwetey emphasized that his call is motivated by what he believes is best for the country, not just party politics. He suggested that public sentiment strongly favors the removal of Mensa and her deputies, reflecting widespread concern over the commission’s independence and credibility.
The calls for resignation follow growing public debate and multiple petitions urging action against the Electoral Commission’s leadership. Issues of transparency, accountability, and trust in the EC remain at the forefront of national discussion.
