Former NPP Parliamentary Candidate Charged In United States Over Alleged Stabbing Incident

A former parliamentary candidate of the New Patriotic Party has been charged in the United States following an alleged domestic incident involving a woman. The accused, Valentino Nii Noi Nortey, previously contested the Klottey Korle parliamentary seat and is reported to be facing multiple criminal charges connected to the case.

According to authorities in Lower Paxton Township, law enforcement officers responded to a reported domestic disturbance at a residential address on the morning of January 17, 2026. Upon arrival, officers found a woman suffering from injuries consistent with a stabbing. Emergency medical personnel provided immediate assistance and transported her to a medical facility, where she was treated and later reported to be in stable condition. Police indicated that there was no ongoing threat to the public following the incident.

Nortey, who is 41 years old, was arrested at the scene and subsequently charged with several offenses under Pennsylvania law. These charges reportedly include attempted homicide, possession of an instrument of crime with intent to use it, and tampering with or fabricating physical evidence. He was arraigned before a magistrate judge, who denied him bail. Nortey is currently being held at Dauphin County Prison as he awaits further court proceedings.

The former candidate is a familiar name within Ghana’s political landscape, having been active in parliamentary politics over multiple election cycles, including the 2024 general elections. Despite his political visibility, he did not secure the parliamentary seat he contested.

Investigations into the incident are ongoing as authorities continue to review evidence and statements related to the case. A preliminary court hearing has been scheduled later this month to determine the next legal steps.
