Ga Mantse Praises LDS Church at Unveiling of Refurbished Adabraka Cluster of Schools – Streetz Gist

In an act of solidarity and commitment toward community development, Ga Mantse  King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II expressed deepest gratitude to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints for its generous contribution toward refurbishing the Adabraka Cluster of Schools. The renaming of the schools to King Tackie Teiko Tsuru I Cluster of Schools was done in his memory, since he was the late Ga King who ruled from 1916 to 1943.

He climaxed the expression of appreciation during the unveiling ceremony on June 26, 2024, that the LDS Church had shown interest in developing the Ga community. The move, he said, would greatly improve the learning environment for children to have a brighter future in the entire Traditional Ga Area.

“This generous contribution is one that testifies to the commitment of the LDS Church toward the development of our community,” he said. “Their support will not only improve the learning environment of our children here in the Ga Traditional Area but create a brighter future for the entire area,” he also said.

Speaking on the donation, the Africa West Area President of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Elder S. Gifford Nielsen, stated that this gesture formed part of a global humanitarian service being carried out by the organization from funds donated by its members spread across the world, insisting, “Our goal as a church is to do what is right and to honour our Saviour, Jesus Christ.”.

The refurbished school now boasts 18 classrooms, a computer lab with 40 fully installed and connected computers and accessories, a library stocked with over 2,000 reading materials, an astro turf football pitch with a 60-seater spectator stand, a 100-seater canteen, a security post, upgraded entrance, a fence wall and additional perimeter upgrades, including drainage, new pavements and landscaping, and improved sanitation facilities.

The partnership is especially significant to Adabraka Public School as they have had to use facilities that are aged. One of the many ways in which the revamped facility will help create an exciting and conducive atmosphere for the students to grow and learn to their full potential is through a well-resourced library.

The LDS Church’s contribution wasn’t just financial; its members actively participated in the project. They offered their skills and labor to assist with the renovation process.
