NPP’s Kofi Ofosu Nkansah Granted Bail In Corruption Case

Former National Entrepreneurship and Innovation Programme (NEIP) CEO Kofi Ofosu Nkansah has been granted bail by an Accra High Court following his appearance in connection with an ongoing corruption investigation. The court granted bail after hearing arguments from both the prosecution and defence, allowing Mr. Nkansah to be released from custody while the legal process continues.

The bail decision came as part of proceedings in which the state is prosecuting Mr. Ofosu Nkansah on alleged financial misconduct relating to his time as head of the NEIP. Details of the specific charges were outlined by the prosecution, which maintains that certain financial transactions and procurement decisions under his leadership warrant further judicial examination.

During the hearing, the defence counsel argued that Mr. Nkansah is a responsible, law-abiding citizen with strong community ties, and that he poses no flight risk. They also emphasised that he would comply with the conditions set by the court if bail were granted.

After weighing the submissions, the judge granted bail and set specific conditions that the former NEIP boss must adhere to while the trial progresses. These typically include regular reporting to police, surrender of travel documents, and not interfering with witnesses or prosecution evidence.

Supporters of Mr. Ofosu Nkansah were present outside the courtroom following the bail ruling, expressing relief at his release but reiterating that the legal process must run its full course.

The state prosecutor has indicated that the prosecution will continue to pursue its case, and subsequent hearings have been scheduled as the matter moves through the judicial system. This development comes amid public interest in accountability and transparency in the management of public funds.
