Ghanaian international player Inaki Williams, who missed the last international match Ghana played against Uganda, who doubles as a player for Spanish league side Athletic Bilbao, has been voted the Best African Player in the Spanish League. He performed extremely well in the last campaign, which thus granted him such a laudable honor.
Athletic Bilboa had the opportunity to win the Copa Del Rey title this year, and the contribution of Inaki Williams in the campaign can’t be underestimated, as his team waited 40 years to lift the trophy after facing off with both Real Madrid and Barcelona, the most decorated teams in the Spanish league.
The award was presented to the Ghana international at San Mames before their game with Sevilla on Sunday 19, 2024, and it was presented by Andoni Goikoetxea, a Bilbao legend.
The incredible form he picked this season also contributed greatly to enabling the Rojiblancos to secure a spot in the European championships.
William made a huge impact by breaking into the top 20 goalscorers at Athletic Bilbao after scoring against Osasuna last week. He has so far scored 12 goals in La Liga this season and seems to be having the best moments of his career in this year’s campaign. He also scored two goals and made two assists in the Copa del Rey.
Nonetheless, he has yet to convince the national coach of the Ghana national team of his inclusion in the next Black Stars campaign in June, which happens to be World Cup qualifiers against Mali and the Central African Republic.
