iShowSpeed Says His Africa Tour Is Focused On Culture Not Influencers

American streamer iShowSpeed has responded to growing criticism after some Nigerian content creators said he ignored them during his Africa tour, especially in Lagos. Several creators, including popular streamer Peller, had publicly tried to get his attention for collaborations — at one point even chasing his convoy and attempting to climb his vehicle — but were not acknowledged.

In explaining his actions, iShowSpeed said the main purpose of his “Speed Does Africa” tour is to highlight local African culture, everyday life and undiscovered talent, not to do influencer collabs. He noted that many influencers already have large platforms, while his project aims to give exposure to people who may never get global attention.

According to him, the tour’s schedule is tightly planned to focus on cultural stops, leaving little room for last-minute collaborations with creators. This, he says, is why he did not pause his itinerary to meet those who approached him.

The explanation has sparked debate online, with some people understanding his focus on culture and others saying he should have acknowledged creators who reached out.
