In a stunning turn of events, pop icon Justin Timberlake was arrested earlier today in Sag Harbor, Long Island, at 12.10 am for DWI and was also found guilty for running a stop sign and failure to stay in his lane, as reported by Page Six.
Timberlake had been socializing with his friends at the luxurious American Hotel, just at the Main Street, within 10 minutes walk from the local police station, then he decided to drive and almost right from the parking lot he blew the stop sign.
The pop star found himself being stopped by the police just beyond the picturesque hotel known to house celebrities and which charges up to $700 for a room.
“He was followed by police, there were police stationed outside where he was having dinner,” before he was stopped for a traffic violation when exiting the parking lot.
The arrestor, a cop who stopped the 10-time Grammy winner, was described as “so young that he did not recognize Timberlake at all,” sources said.
The source revealed that the pop star was asked to take the field sobriety test which he agreed to take, but ‘rejected’ to take the breath test.
“His name did not ring a bell including his person,” the insider said.
People who spoke with the press added that Timberlake appeared dazed and had alcohol on his breath, though he had refused to blow in a breathalyzer test.
His friends followed him and they wanted to persuade the officers to release the singer but the latter was arrested and the police escorted him away.
Timberlake later arrived at courts messy with a black baseball cap, a gray graphic T-shirt with the “Live Circuit” printed on it, black short-sleeve button-up shirt and was released and without a bail.
His arrest comes at a time when his career has been experiencing a resurgence, with his recent world tour dates in Big Apple next week said to the arresting officer “this is going to ruin the tour” sources claimed.
Court documents indicate that his next court appearance will be July 26, though the singer will not have to attend the procedural date. His driver’s license will be suspend in New York. Other sources said he claimed to have an out of state license. Police and courts officials declined to comment on Post requests for these materials. Sources close to the victim said the unpleasant event was captured on bodycam video.
