Kennedy Agyapong Refuses to Apologise Over “Bawumia Is A Liar” Comment
Ghanaian politician Kennedy Agyapong has rejected calls for an apology after describing Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia as a liar. Agyapong said he would not back down from his statement and that no one would pressure him into apologising.
Speaking publicly, Agyapong said “I will apologise my foot” and stressed that he does not fear anyone when it comes to standing by what he said. He insisted that he would not withdraw the remark that Bawumia is a liar, despite criticism and pressure to apologise.
His comments come amid tension within the New Patriotic Party (NPP) as Agyapong campaigns in the flagbearer race ahead of internal elections scheduled for January 31, 2026. In recent speeches, he has challenged Bawumia’s credibility and leadership, accusing him of making false statements about the party’s history and other issues.
Supporters of Agyapong have backed his refusal to apologise, saying he owes no apology for speaking his mind. Other voices within the party have debated whether the intensity of the language helps or hurts the unity of the NPP.
The clash highlights growing divisions as the party prepares for its internal primaries, with delegates watching closely how the rivalry between Agyapong and Bawumia unfolds.
