Mark Okraku-Mantey Backs Bawumia And Urges Unity After NPP Primaries
Former Deputy Minister for Tourism, Arts and Culture Mark Okraku-Mantey has publicly expressed confidence in Dr Mahamudu Bawumia in the New Patriotic Party presidential primary race and appealed for unity within the party following voting. Okraku-Mantey said Bawumia has the experience and qualities needed to lead the party effectively ahead of future elections.
Speaking after voting in the New Patriotic Party primaries, Okraku-Mantey called on all party supporters and aspirants to accept the outcome peacefully and work together for the party’s progress. He emphasised that reconciliation and togetherness are critical, especially after competitive internal elections.
He said the party must focus on its goals and avoid division, noting that harmony within the New Patriotic Party will strengthen its ability to take on future national challenges and campaigns. His statement reflected a broader call among senior party figures for stability after the primary elections.
Okraku-Mantey’s support for Bawumia comes as the internal voting continues across constituencies and results begin to emerge. Many delegates across Ghana are casting their ballots at polling centres following procedures set by the party. Some senior members have emphasised that regardless of who wins, everyone should rally behind the elected candidate.
The New Patriotic Party is conducting this primary as part of its process to choose a flagbearer for future national elections. Party leaders have highlighted the need for fair play and respect for party values during the process and afterwards. Okraku-Mantey’s call for unity is in line with these broader messages from party officials.
