Naa Ashorkor Set To Debut “The Legend Of Aku Sika” In Honour Of Professor Martin Okyere Owusu.

Naa Ashorkor a popular and talented actress and media personality is set to direct her first play “The legend of Aku Sika” in the national theater. Her first directing is said to be in honor of the legendary Professor Martin Okyere Owusu, a resourceful personality in the art industry. A man who wrote and directed many folktales in the Ghanaian setting and also mentored most of the great names we see in plays and screens.

The National Theater, under the directing of Naa Ashorkor will be showing the legendary folktale which was written by the legendary Professor Martin Okyere Owusu in the national theater as a four day event, divided in two sections. The first section will be held from on Saturday the 1st of June to 2nd of June and the second section scheduled for the 8th to the 9th of June,2024.

Professor Martin Okyere Owusu, a former lecturer at the university of Ghana for the department of art and theatre play has contributed immensely to the cultural plays in the growth of theater art in Ghana. He has several plays credited in his honour of which the major ones are The Sankofa series and The legend Of Aku Sika, also several stars are a product of his mentorship and guidance, some of his products cherished by Ghanaians are Clemeto Suarez, Adjeytey Anang and Nadia Buari to mention but few. His influence on the theater art of Ghana is no doubt the reason he has earned a first play by Naa Ashorkor in his Honor.
