Nana Poku Ashis clarifies Yaw Sarpong marital status

Ghanaian artist manager Nana Poku Ashis has dismissed rumours about the late gospel musician Yaw Sarpong’s marital status and relationship with fellow musician Maame Tiwaa. In a recent clarification, Ashis explained that claims suggesting Yaw Sarpong and Maame Tiwaa were romantically involved or married are not accurate and have been misunderstood by the public.
According to Ashis, Yaw Sarpong and Maame Tiwaa shared a close and long lasting professional relationship that lasted over three decades. The two worked together as ministry partners and developed a strong bond rooted in mutual respect and artistic collaboration. She emphasised that their connection was built through years of working together, rehearsing for performances, and ministering to audiences, not through a romantic relationship.
Ashis clarified that although the pair lived together at certain times due to their busy schedules and shared commitments, they never dated nor married. Their decision to stay in the same house at times was practical and related to their work rather than a sign of marriage or romance.
The explanation came as some fans and followers speculated about the nature of their relationship after decades of close friendship and collaboration. Ashis stressed that their bond was one of deep friendship and loyalty rather than marriage or romantic involvement.
Yaw Sarpong, a gospel music legend, passed away in January 2026. He was widely respected for his contributions to gospel music and his influence on the industry. Ashis’s clarification aims to correct public misunderstanding and celebrate the true nature of the relationship between the two late artists.
