Renowned Ghanaian businessman and media mogul Osei Kwame Despite has publicly dismissed claims that he supported Priscilla Ofori, popularly known as Odo Bronii, in the family dispute surrounding the funeral of late highlife legend Daddy Lumba.
Despite addressed the issue following widespread speculation that he had taken sides in the ongoing disagreement involving Daddy Lumba’s family. In a circulating audio message, he made it clear that such claims are false and misleading. According to him, it makes no sense for him to support Odo Bronii, especially given his closer relationship with Akosua Serwaa, who is widely recognized as Daddy Lumba’s wife in the funeral arrangements.
The businessman explained that his involvement after Daddy Lumba’s passing was purely out of respect for the legendary musician and not an attempt to influence or support any party in the family matter. He revealed that he made a significant financial contribution to the family to assist with funeral preparations, stressing that the gesture was meant to honor Daddy Lumba’s legacy rather than deepen divisions.
Despite further clarified that he maintained contact with Akosua Serwaa and her children during the period following the musician’s death. He stated that his interactions were guided by compassion and long-standing personal relationships, not favoritism or hidden agendas.
He also addressed rumors suggesting he was actively involved in funeral planning decisions, noting that he did not attend certain ceremonies due to personal reasons. However, he emphasized that his absence should not be interpreted as support for one side over the other.
Despite concluded by urging the public to stop spreading false narratives and allow Daddy Lumba’s family to mourn in peace. He maintained that his priority has always been to honor the memory of the late musician and promote unity rather than conflict.
