Kwakye Ofosu Questions “Scandal” Claims In Dogbe GoldBod Contract Debate
Government spokesperson Felix Kwakye Ofosu has pushed back against claims of wrongdoing in the ongoing controversy surrounding the GoldBod contract linked to Stan Dogbe.
Speaking in a media interview, Kwakye Ofosu challenged the narrative being pushed in the public space, questioning why the matter is being described as a scandal. He argued that the use of such language is misleading and not supported by the facts available so far.
According to him, critics have failed to clearly point out any concrete wrongdoing in the contract award process. He maintained that simply associating a government official with a company that wins a contract does not automatically constitute corruption or impropriety.
Kwakye Ofosu further explained that decision-making processes in public institutions often involve multiple layers, suggesting that no single individual can unilaterally influence such outcomes. He stressed that unless there is clear evidence of rules being breached, labeling the issue a scandal is premature.
The controversy stems from a GH¢11.9 million renovation contract awarded by the Ghana Gold Board, which has sparked debate over possible conflict of interest due to Dogbe’s alleged connection to the company involved.
However, authorities have consistently defended the process, insisting that the contract was awarded through a restricted tendering method approved by the appropriate regulatory body, with multiple firms participating.
Kwakye Ofosu’s comments add to the growing political discourse surrounding the issue, as both critics and government officials continue to clash over transparency and accountability.
As the debate intensifies, many observers are calling for a thorough and objective assessment of the facts to determine whether any procurement laws were violated.
