Police Arrest Key Suspect In Wapuli Kidnapping Case
Police in the Northern Region have arrested a key suspect believed to be involved in the Wapuli kidnapping case following weeks of intelligence-led operations.
The suspect, identified as Hoyeefe Amadu, was arrested in the early hours of Tuesday at his hideout in a village near Gushegu. Police intelligence officers had been monitoring his movements after the earlier arrest of other suspects linked to the case.
The kidnapping incident occurred in December 2025 when a 42-year-old man was abducted in the Wapuli area. During the incident, a ransom demand was made, and part of the money was reportedly paid before police intervened and rescued the victim.
Investigators believe the suspect played a central role in the four-man group responsible for the abduction. His arrest is considered a major breakthrough in efforts to dismantle the criminal network behind the crime.
Three other suspects connected to the case have already been arrested and remanded into custody. Police say investigations are ongoing and efforts are underway to arrest any remaining accomplices as they work to ensure justice is served.
