President Commends Ghana Police Service For Peaceful Christmas Celebrations

President John Dramani Mahama has praised the Ghana Police Service for its role in maintaining peace and security during the recent Christmas festivities across the country. He described the overall conduct of the festive season as calm and orderly, attributing the outcome to effective planning, professionalism, and dedication by police personnel.

The President made the commendation while addressing officers and senior officials at a security related end of year engagement in Accra. He noted that the festive period is usually marked by increased travel, social activities, and public gatherings, which often place added pressure on security agencies. Despite these challenges, the Police Service ensured that communities remained safe and that major incidents were largely avoided.

According to President Mahama, the visible presence of police officers at transport terminals, markets, highways, places of worship, and entertainment centres played a key role in deterring crime and reassuring the public. He emphasized that the strategic deployment of officers across the country reflected strong leadership and effective coordination within the Service.

The President also commended the Inspector General of Police and the entire command structure for prioritizing intelligence led operations and discipline. He stressed that the safety of citizens and the protection of property remain central to national stability and development.

In addition, President Mahama issued a warning to criminal elements, stating that attacks on security personnel or acts intended to undermine public peace would be dealt with firmly. He urged the Police Service to sustain its high standards of professionalism beyond the festive season and continue building public trust.

He concluded by thanking officers for their sacrifice and commitment, acknowledging the personal cost of working through holidays to ensure the safety of others.
