President Mahama Addresses Zambia’s National Assembly During State Visit

President John Dramani Mahama of Ghana has delivered a major speech to the National Assembly of Zambia, marking a central moment of his ongoing three-day state visit to Zambia. The address took place after his arrival in Lusaka, where he and First Lady Lordina Mahama are strengthening diplomatic ties between Ghana and Zambia.

In his address to the Zambian lawmakers, President Mahama outlined Ghana’s vision for a prosperous and united Africa, emphasising cooperation, peace, and regional integration. He spoke about the importance of deepening bilateral relations and economic partnerships between the two nations, which share strong historical and political bonds.

The visit underscores both countries’ commitments to collaboration across trade, education, investment, and cultural exchange. Mahama’s speech to the legislature was highlighted by calls for mutual support in Pan-African efforts, including peacebuilding and the socio-economic development of the continent.

State visits such as this also provide opportunities for member states in Africa to discuss shared challenges such as economic growth, youth employment, and infrastructure development. Ghana’s position, as articulated by Mahama in Lusaka, focused on a common agenda for security, prosperity, and democratic governance.

President Mahama’s address to Zambia’s parliament was broadcast live on television and radio, with viewers in both Ghana and Zambia tuning in to follow his remarks directly.
