Last week, Sean “Diddy” Combs returned his key to New York City at the request of Mayor Eric Adams. This request followed the release of a 2016 video showing Combs assaulting his ex-girlfriend, Cassie. Mayor Adams’ office, expressing deep concern and condemning the violence, asked for the key’s return on June 4 after the video surfaced in May. The letter emphasized support for all survivors of domestic and gender-based violence.
The mayor’s office confirmed receiving the key on June 10. The video, which appeared online on May 17, shows Diddy chasing R&B singer Cassie Ventura out of a hotel room, pushing, kicking, and dragging her before throwing her to the ground and grabbing her by the neck. He also kicks her again and throws something at her in the video.
In light of the video’s delivery, Howard College denied Diddy’s privileged degree, expressing that his activities were essentially contrary with the college’s qualities. The college repeated its responsibility against all types of relational savagery. On social media, Diddy expressed his regrets, acknowledged his mistakes, and accepted full responsibility. He communicated profound regret, depicting his way of behaving as terrible.
Diddy and Cassie were together for a decade, during which time Cassie later accused him of repeatedly assaulting and abusing her. The claim named Combs’ label, Bad Boy Records, and Sony Music, that Ventura was “trapped by Mr. Combs in a cycle of abuse, violence and sex trafficking.”
Notwithstanding confronting various claims of attack, assault, and sex dealing this year, Diddy settled the case with Cassie not long after it was documented. He has denied every claim, and Homeland Security searched his Miami and Los Angeles residences in March.
