Controversial Captain Smart, a Ghanaian journalist and broadcaster, has urged for legal action against Charterhouse for exploiting Shatta Wale’s music while banning him from the award scheme.
He stated, ‘I want to let Charterhouse know that it is never acceptable to use the crafts of someone that you have banned from your event. They allowed the DJ to play Shatta Wale’s music, which is unlawful, and he should not hesitate to sue them for this violation.
However, the specifics of the ban and its legal standing are unclear. Charterhouse has yet to publicly respond to these accusations.
This development has sparked debate on social media, with some supporting Smart’s stance and others questioning the legality and enforceability of the ‘ban’ on Shatta Wale.
It remains to be seen whether if Shatta Wale will indeed pursue legal action against Chatterhouse, and what the outcome of such a potential lawsuit might be. This incident is likely to continue to fuel public discourse on the issues of artistic expression, media influence, and the ethics of public bans in Ghana.
