Six, Including Three Month Old Baby, Killed In Abuakwa Manhyia House Fire
A tragic house fire has claimed the lives of six people, including a three month old baby, at Abuakwa Manhyia in the Atwima Nwabiagya South Municipality of the Ashanti Region. The heartbreaking incident occurred in the early hours of Monday, December 22, when a residential building was suddenly engulfed in flames.
According to reports, the fire started around 12:30 a.m. while the occupants of the house were asleep. The blaze spread rapidly, trapping the victims inside the apartment and leaving them with no chance of escape. Neighbours who noticed the fire raised an alarm and attempted to help, but the intensity of the flames made rescue efforts impossible.
Firefighters from nearby stations were quickly dispatched to the scene after an emergency call was placed. They managed to bring the fire under control after some time. Sadly, all six occupants, including the infant, were confirmed dead at the scene. Their bodies were later retrieved and handed over to the appropriate authorities for preservation and further procedures.
Local authorities have confirmed that investigations have been launched to determine the cause of the fire. Preliminary information suggests the incident may have occurred shortly after power supply was restored in the area following an earlier outage, though officials say this has not yet been established as the cause.
The incident has plunged the Abuakwa Manhyia community into deep mourning, with residents expressing shock and sorrow over the loss of lives, especially that of the young child. Authorities are urging the public to observe fire safety measures and promptly report any electrical faults or fire hazards to prevent similar tragedies.
