In order to get to the Hersheypark Stadium in time for Stevie Nicks’ concert on June 15 at approximately 6 p.m., thousands of cars had to negotiate the traffic on Hersheypark Drive.
Tragically, it was around when the declaration was made that the show had been deferred. A post was made to the Facebook page for Hersheypark Stadium, and the website for Hershey Entertainment was updated.
“Regrettably, due to illness in the band, tonight’s performance is being postponed,” read the Facebook post. “Please hold on to your tickets. A new date will be announced soon.”
On Facebook, some fans expressed their dissatisfaction with the effort, money, and time spent traveling to the cancelled event.
“Drove 8 hours for this show and see it as we are pulling in,” said another. “What a waste.”
“We were about to park. Thank you for posting as soon as you knew, said a comment. “I’m disappointed but looking forward to the make up show.”
Additionally, many fans desired to convey their best wishes to the band members.
“I understand the frustration and inconvenience of the show being canceled last minute, but medical emergencies are just that – emergencies – it’s not like you get a few hours, sometimes any notice at all – that a health crisis is going to occur. People are sounding pretty heartless and entitled in some of these comments. What if it was your family member or loved one having a medical emergency?”
“We were in traffic for over an hr and heard…but we stayed and made the best of it and we got insurance on the tickets just in case. We heard there was a medical emergency and the person had to be flown out due to the traffic which explains seeing the helicopter, ambulance and a cop escorting a very nice SUV with black tint and a all black cargo truck…prayers to all”
