Stonebwoy Urges Ghanaian Artists to Prioritize Ghana Music Awards Before Grammys.

Ghanaian dancehall and reggae star Stonebwoy has advised his fellow artists to place a higher value on the Ghana Music Awards (TGMA) before setting their sights on international accolades such as the Grammy Awards.

In a recent interview with Berla Mundi, Stonebwoy expressed concern that some Ghanaian musicians are becoming too focused on international recognition and neglecting the importance of their homegrown awards. He argued that the TGMA recognizes and celebrates the contributions of Ghanaian musicians both domestically and globally.

‘It’s important for us to value and support our own. The TGMA is a prestigious award that acknowledges our hard work and helps promote Ghanaian music to the world,’ Stonebwoy said. ‘Of course, winning a Grammy is an incredible achievement, but we should never forget the significance of our national awards.’

According to Stonebwoy, winning the TGMA gives artists a sense of pride and accomplishment. It also serves as a platform for them to connect with their fans and showcase their talents to a wider audience.

‘When we win an honour in Ghana, it is more than just the trophy. It’s about the respect and appreciation we get from our own community,” he said. He also stated that Americans consider the Grammys to be local awards.
