Stonebwoy wins TGMA “Artiste of the Year” 2024

Stonebwoy, Multiple Award-winning Reggae Dancehall artiste has won the supreme award for the night, Artiste of the Year, during the Telecel Ghana Music Awards ceremony that was held at the Grand Arena, Accra International Conference Center.

He contended for this prestigious award with other artistes – Sarkodie, Black Sherif, Kuami Eugene, King Promise, and Nacce and emerged the overall winner with his hit song, “Into the Future with You.” Not being the only award he received for the night for the year under review, Stonebwoy went ahead to bag other awards such as  International Collaboration of the Year, Songwriter of the Year, Reggae Dancehall artiste of the Year, Record of the Year and Album/EP of the year, making him the most decorated artiste of the night.

His speech after receiving the various awards included an appreciation to fans, which he calls the “Bhim Natives” for their unwavering support and promised to tour the country to showcase his awards as an expression of gratitude. He went ahead to share his joyous moment with friends and family who joined him on staged while he made his speech including his wife Dr. Louisa Setakla.

“I just want to say thanks to the Most High God. Thank you mama wherever you are, thank you for showering your blessings upon your son. I wrote a long speech but I am at a lost for words,” the musician said. He thanked his contenders for putting up a good fight since they all put in efforts to win an award.

However, before he climbed down the stage, he sent an appeal to the Chatterhouse, organisers of TGMA, to  announce the result of the 2019 Ghana Music Awards. The announcement was halted and eventually cancelled after a fight broke out between himself and Shatta Wale – this led to their suspension for a year.
