28 Foreign Nationals And Landlord Arrested In Amansie West Immigration Raid
Security agencies in the Amansie West District have arrested 28 foreign nationals and a local landlord during a joint immigration enforcement operation aimed at curbing illegal residency in the area.
The exercise, conducted by officers from the Ghana Immigration Service, the Ghana Police Service and the Amansie West District Assembly, targeted residences in the communities of Pakyi Number One and Pakyi Number Two where undocumented foreigners were alleged to be living.
Authorities said all 28 foreign nationals are being held in custody for further screening and investigation to determine their legal status and whether they have violated the country’s immigration laws.
The landlord, who was also detained, is expected to face charges related to renting property to individuals without valid documentation. Officials cautioned property owners to always check the immigration status of tenants before leasing accommodation.
Prince Manu Morris, the District Chief Executive for Amansie West, urged community members to report any suspicious activities involving undocumented residents and reminded landlords of their legal obligations to verify the credentials of those they house.
Police and immigration officers noted that the raid forms part of ongoing efforts to enforce immigration laws and maintain public safety within the district.
