NACOC Clarifies Role Of Senior Manager In Airport Cocaine Seizure
The Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC) has responded publicly to questions about the involvement of a senior manager of a manufacturing firm in a recent cocaine discovery at Kotoka International Airport. The agency spoke on TV3’s Ghana Tonight on February 11, 2026, addressing speculation about the case and outlining key details of the operation.
NACOC spokesperson Anthony Twum-Barimah explained that the arrest resulted from a planned intelligence-led operation at the airport, where a shipment bound for export was inspected after suspicions were raised. Officers discovered cocaine hidden inside packaged gari that was being handled as legitimate cargo.
He confirmed that the suspect, a senior production manager with a local manufacturing company, was detained in connection with the discovery. Although details about the suspect’s identity have not been released, authorities say the evidence suggests he was directly involved in the attempt to move the illicit substance out of the country.
Twum-Barimah told the TV3 programme that NACOC is working to establish the full scope of the alleged operation and whether others may be implicated. He stressed that investigations are ongoing and that the commission will pursue all legal avenues to ensure accountability.
The commission’s comments were aimed at countering rumours and misinformation circulating in the media and on social platforms, where unverified claims had linked the arrest to high-profile business interests without factual basis. NACOC reiterated that it will update the public as more verified information becomes available.
