President Mahama Introduces First Lady Lordina To Zambian Parliament During State Visit
President John Dramani Mahama formally introduced his wife, First Lady Lordina Dramani Mahama to members of the Zambian Parliament during his official state visit to the Republic of Zambia on Thursday, February 5, 2026. The introduction formed part of his address to the Zambian National Assembly where he spoke on matters of mutual interest and cooperation between the two African countries.
Accompanied by Mrs Mahama, ministers of state and senior government officials, President Mahama was welcomed by members of Zambia’s legislature and presiding officers. The gesture of introducing the First Lady reflected both diplomatic courtesy and the strengthening of bilateral ties between Ghana and Zambia.
In his address to the parliament, President Mahama highlighted the long-standing friendship between Ghana and Zambia, noting that the two countries share historical bonds dating back to their respective struggles for independence. He emphasised the need for deeper economic cooperation, stronger regional collaboration and shared efforts toward continental development under frameworks such as the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).
President Mahama also discussed broader continental concerns, including the importance of reforming global governance systems to ensure fair representation for African nations while enhancing cooperation in trade, investment and political dialogue. His remarks underscored a vision for a united and prosperous Africa, driven by collective agency and partnership.
The state visit has included bilateral meetings with Zambia’s leadership, where discussions have focused on economic ties, diplomatic engagement and opportunities for mutually beneficial ventures. The introduction of the First Lady to the assembly added a personal dimension to the official engagements, symbolising respect and cordial relations between the two nations.
