Bullgod Recounts Difficult Experience With Police During Fennec Okyere Murder Investigation
Ghanaian artiste manager Lawrence Nana Asiamah Hanson, popularly known as Bullgod, has opened up about what he describes as unfair treatment by the police during investigations into the murder of music executive Fennec Okyere.
Speaking about the incident, Bullgod said his arrest and detention during the investigation was a traumatic experience that left a lasting impact on him. He explained that although he willingly cooperated with authorities, he was still taken into custody in connection with the case.
According to the artiste manager, he spent more than a month in police custody at the Cantonments Police Station without legal representation. He admitted that he initially believed he did not need a lawyer because he felt he had nothing to hide, but later realized that decision was a mistake.
Bullgod also disclosed that after he was granted bail, the legal process continued for several years. During that period, he had to appear in court regularly while investigations were ongoing, which he said affected his personal life and professional reputation.
Despite the lengthy process, he indicated that no evidence was ultimately presented against him. He was eventually discharged by the court, though he clarified that the ruling did not fully clear him of suspicion under the law.
The murder of Fennec Okyere, the former manager of rapper Kwaw Kese and Chief Executive Officer of Madtime Entertainment, occurred in March 2014 after unknown attackers reportedly broke into his residence and killed him. The case shocked the Ghanaian entertainment industry and remains unresolved years later.
Bullgod’s account has reignited discussions about due process and the treatment of suspects during criminal investigations in Ghana. His experience highlights the emotional and reputational consequences individuals may face when linked to high profile criminal cases, even without a conviction.
