Afenyo-Markin Explains Why He Visited Cemetery For First Time During Naser Burial
Minority Leader Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu, popularly known as Afenyo-Markin, has provided insight into why he visited a cemetery for the first time during the burial of Naser Mohamed in Takoradi. The event was held on Saturday, February 14, 2026, and drew notable public attention because Mr. Afenyo-Markin had never attended a burial in a cemetery before.
According to Afenyo-Markin, his decision to go to the cemetery was motivated by deep respect for the late Naser Mohamed and a desire to honour the memory of the deceased. He told media that although he had never been to a cemetery for a funeral previously, he felt it was important to pay his respects in this instance because of the relationship and regard he had for Naser.
The burial took place at the Takoradi Cemetery, where family, friends, and political associates gathered to bid farewell. Afenyo-Markin said his presence was meant to show solidarity with the grieving family and community, and to celebrate the life of Naser, who was remembered by many as a respected figure in his community.
He emphasised that attending the cemetery burial was not a usual practice for him, but that this occasion was special enough to warrant breaking with tradition. His remarks have drawn attention on social media and in public discourse, with supporters praising the gesture as a sign of respect and compassion.
