Ghanaian media personality and former Guinness World Record sing-a-thon contender Afua Asantewaa has become the centre of social media discussions after opening up about challenges in her marriage, including her husband’s failure to defend her during public backlash.
In a viral video sighted by GhanaWeb on April 2, 2026, Afua Asantewaa, during a TikTok session, outlined several factors that led to her separation from her husband, who is also a media personality. Among the reasons she cited, she revealed that her husband, a journalist with over three decades of experience, never came to her defence when she faced intense criticism on social media.
“My partner is a journalist with over 30 years of experience, yet he has never come out to defend me. But during the sing-a-thon, he was able to stand in front of the camera and say he is proud of his wife,” she said.
She expressed frustration over the lack of support during difficult moments, adding that she often feels isolated. “I don’t have anybody to talk to, but sometimes you just have to speak the truth,” she stated.
Afua Asantewaa gained national and international attention in December 2023 when she attempted to break the Guinness World Record for the longest singing marathon by an individual. Although her initial attempt was not certified, she received widespread public support and later announced plans for a second attempt.
