Police Investigate Suspected Arson At Alpha Hour Church Auditorium
Police have launched an investigation into a suspected arson attack that severely damaged the Alpha Hour Ministry International auditorium in the Central Region.
The incident occurred on the night of February 11, 2026, when flames engulfed the main worship hall of the church located at Assin Fosu. The blaze badly damaged the roof and interior of the facility before firefighters were able to bring it under control.
Fire officials say the fire appeared to have been deliberately set, prompting law enforcement to treat it as a suspected arson. Officers from the Ghana Police Service have cordoned off the scene and begun collecting evidence to establish how the fire started and who may be responsible.
Local residents raised the alarm after seeing thick smoke and flames coming from the church auditorium late in the evening. Volunteers and first responders worked through the night to contain the fire and prevent it from spreading to nearby buildings.
Officials from the police and fire service have appealed to anyone with information about the incident to come forward and assist with the investigation. So far, no arrests have been made, and detectives continue to review witness accounts and physical evidence gathered at the scene.
Members of the Alpha Hour congregation expressed shock and sadness over the destruction of their place of worship, while church leaders called for calm and urged the community to support investigators in their work.
Police say they will update the public as the investigation progresses and more information becomes available.
