Contractors Aim To Complete Accra’s Multipurpose Hajj Village By 2026
Contractors working on the Multipurpose Hajj Village project in Accra have announced plans to complete construction by the end of 2026. The project, which is intended to serve both returning pilgrims and provide multiple community uses throughout the year, is progressing steadily and remains on schedule according to officials overseeing the work.
The Hajj Village is designed to offer accommodation and support facilities for Ghanaian pilgrims travelling to Mecca for the annual Hajj pilgrimage. Beyond its primary purpose, it is also expected to function as a training centre, community hub and space for other cultural activities once fully completed.
During a recent site inspection, representatives of the contractors said that work has advanced significantly and that key infrastructure is already in place. They expressed confidence that all major construction stages will be finished within the projected 2026 deadline.
The multipurpose nature of the facility means the complex includes not just residential units but also modern amenities for training, meetings and events. Once finished, it will enhance local capacity to support Hajj pilgrims and provide additional benefits to community groups.
Officials involved with the project emphasised that timely completion remains a top priority and that efforts are ongoing to ensure the site meets international standards for safety and comfort.
The Multipurpose Hajj Village is part of broader efforts to upgrade infrastructure related to Ghana’s support for international religious travel and to maximise utility for local residents when pilgrims are not using the facilities.
