Dr Bawumia Says Healing Comes From Speaking Up, Not Silence
The flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, has called on members of his party to speak openly about issues that divide them as part of the process of healing and rebuilding unity. His comments came during a national thanksgiving service in Accra, where he emphasised that healing and reconciliation within the party cannot happen if people remain silent about their concerns.
Dr Bawumia highlighted that Ghana’s political journey and the future success of the NPP require party members to engage honestly with one another rather than avoid difficult conversations. He said that acknowledging points of disagreement and talking through them is essential to restoring trust and cooperation.
While addressing the service attendees, he stated that there is more that unites people than divides them, and encouraged conversations that focus on shared values and common goals instead of hidden frustrations. According to him, unity is a process that must be worked on actively, not passively.
Dr Bawumia also linked this call for open communication to the party’s broader goals, urging followers to prepare diligently for the next general elections. He reminded them that victory would not automatically be given but earned through discipline, hard work, and a united front.
His remarks have contributed to ongoing discussions about internal reconciliation in the NPP, especially after recent internal elections and preparations for future political contests. Supporters and critics alike have reacted on social media platforms, with many debating the role of dialogue and open conflict in strengthening or weakening political movements.
